Primary Children's Hospital Visit

Konner had to have surgery on his little "manhood," On August 24, 2009. He couldn't have anything to eat after midnight the day before. His surgery was scheduled for 8:30, and at 8:00 a nurse came out and told us the people before us had an emergency so he wouldn't get in until 9:30. Konner did pretty good until about 9:00, then he was hungry and got pretty fussy. At 9:30 the anastesiologist (Dr. Jones) came out and talked to us, and told us what they were going to do, and how Konner would most likely react. Then he walked us down the hall, and then he took Konner from me, and i started crying. I'm glad Keith was there, since i was an emotional wreck. Then we went down to the waiting room, where Dr. Wallace (the surgeon) was waiting for us. I'm sure he could tell i had been crying with my big red eyes. He talked to us for a bit, and then told me, that he would take good care of Konner, and come get us when he was done.

During that long hour, many little prayers were said for Konner. And i know he was thought of by our family and friends. Thanks so much!!! Then Dr. Wallace came back and told us everything went just fine, and that he was coming out of the anastesia. I got to go back and look at him. He was in the still kind of out of it, and didn't want to wake up. The nurse was trying to get him to wake up, so that he would get some fluids in him. He still had his little IV in. Konner would wake up, and then roll his eyes, and then go back to sleep. Finally we were able to wake him up, and he was all about the bottle, he finished it in a hurry and wanted a second one. They were only 2 ounces each. He moved to another room, where dad got to come back. Konner was getting pretty fussy, but fell asleep while i was holding him. We had to stay in that room for an hour, to make sure he was ok, then we got to come home.

I'm so glad that, that is over with, and that he did really well. When we got home he was actually a fairly happy guy, which i didn't think he would be. We have been giving him Motrins, which keeps the swelling and pain down. We are grateful for his safety and for being watched over by some really good doctors and by our Father in Heaven!!

  1. I'm glad to hear the little guy is doing well! I would have been bawling too. I still cry when my kids get their booster shots, and they are 5 and 2!
